Introductory Greek

Course Description

This special topics course introduces students to the grammar and vocabulary of Ancient Greek through the study of Homeric Greek, GRE 301 offers a complete treatment of the essential Homeric forms of words and rules of syntax, and the opportunity to practice these elements through parsing and translating model sentences, through reading select passages from Book One of Homer’s Iliad in the original Greek, and through comparison with variant forms found in the Koine Greek of the New Testament.
