The Application Process

The March 15th application deadline has passed.  Late applications will be considered only on a space-available basis. All late applications require payment of an additional non- refundable $25 late fee.

    1. Following the guidance given below, gather the necessary information. Don’t wait to write your essays!

Required Documents
  1. Transcripts: Official High School transcripts or GED should be mailed directly to us from the issuing school.
  2. ACT/SAT/CLT Scores: Applicants must submit their score for one of the following national tests: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), the American College Test (ACT), or the Classical Learning Test (CLT).
    • We suggest that you take the CLT .
    • The test can be taken at home, making it easier to schedule
    • Scores are returned quicker than the other tests.
  3. Transfer Materials: Students transferring from another college or university should have their official transcripts sent directly to us. Students with fewer than twelve semester hours of earned credit must also submit a high school transcript and a national test score.
  4. Recommendations: The College requires two letters of recommendation: the first, a personal integrity reference written by a priest with sufficient personal knowledge of the applicant; the second, an academic reference written by a former teacher or administrator (not a guardian or relative).
  5. Medical Forms: Applicants must provide information about their medical history, including results of a recent physical examination, indication of any known allergies, and a record of immunizations.
  6. Rules and Decorum: Applicants, and parents of minor applicants, must sign the Rules and Decorum form, indicating their agreement to abide by the expectations for behavior determined by the College.
  7. Financial Obligation: Applicants, and parents of minor applicants, must agree to abide by the conditions for payment indicated in the enrollment contract. Payment plans are available.

Essay Guidelines

A visit to St. Mary’s College is a required part of the application process. The visit includes one or two days accompanying a student through a normal academic day. Meals are provided, and applicants are encouraged to spend the night in the dorm to get a complete feel for college life at SMC.
