Dr. Daniel Timothy Gresham

Biography

Daniel Gresham is a history professor at St. Mary’s College. He grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he enjoyed the region’s outdoors and athletics like wrestling and rugby. Today, he and his wife cooperate in the arduous and beautiful art of raising their eight children. Dr. Gresham holds a BA from Colorado State University and a MS, MA, and PhD from Kansas State University. His specializations include agricultural and business history, American conservatism, and the American West. His articles and book reviews have appeared in academic journals such as Agricultural History, Great Plains Quarterly, the European Journal of American Studies, and Kansas History. Dr. Gresham’s book project, Cattle Cartel: How Big Cattlemen and Packers Harnessed the Meat Industry, 1916-1933, is under advance contract with the University of Nebraska Press. It considers the origin of collaboration between large scale producers and packers and how, together, they advanced industrial agriculture, manipulated consumer behavior, and crafted partnerships with public sector institutions.
